We started to get back into the swing of things in July and here’s everything we’ve been up to:
- We completed a React Native upgrade for the Fiber Club mobile app. We upgraded from React Native 0.70 to 0.71. This process always takes longer than expected, but we take the time to upgrade because it improves the performance of the app.
- Rommel completely moved his development environment and all Fiber Club projects to his new laptop. This includes setup for the Fiber Club mobile app, the API server, databases, UI design files, secrets/certificates and more.
- For the mobile app, we fixed a filtering bug that was causing patterns of different crafts to show up incorrectly. We also updated the labels for formats to read “alternative formats” to help clarify that multiple PDFs are available for download. (These suggestions were both from beta testers! 🙂
- The latest version of the app has been approved on Google Play and Apple AppStore. Liza will be sending additional invitations for the open beta very soon.
- Lastly, we want to experiment with a new work methodology. We were attempting to do 2-week sprints using Agile/Scrum methodologies but have decided to try Kanban instead. Our hope with this change is that it will allow us to deliver value more quickly. We also want to experiment with writing more frequent blog posts.
